The Fender Telecaster is a first choice for country, blues, and classic rock electric guitarists, preferably with a sunburst body and a white pick guard, and preferably with some nicks and scratches to give the guitar character and show it's "been around the block" a few times. It has two single coil pickups that give the guitar a slightly sharp and clean twangy tone. The three way pickup switch can select the neck pickup, bridge pickup, or a a mix of both. The bridge system can be a little frustrating to setup intonation as the strings sit on the saddle in groups of two. This means that when adjusting the intonation of one string you are also affecting its neighboring string. The Telecaster is a very reliable guitar due to its simple design and simple electrical wiring.
