Guitar Pedals
Guitar effects units placed in the signal chain between the instrument and the amplifier are typically called pedals because the musician toggles them on and off with his or her feet. Common guitar pedals include wah wah, delay, distortion, compression, EQ, tuner, looper, reverb, chorus, amp simulator, you name it. Some pedals have many many effects built into one unit. But many guitarists prefer to collect, and mix and match, individual pedals to allow for greater customization of tone.
