Onomatopoeia

Onomatopoeia are words that imitate the sound they are describing and represent. Just a few examples could be: zap, buzz, beep, whoosh, bang, thump, thud, etc...

They are often used in written and graphical media and are extensively used in comics and graphic novels to give physical actions acoustic representations.
