Pileated Woodpecker

Dryocopus pileatus, the largest of the North American woodpeckers. They grow to be as large as a small crow at 16 to 19 inches. They have a loud, fast, laughing call. The Pileated Woodpecker is an uncommon but widely distributed, year-round resident of old growth and maturing forests.
