Split Infinitive

A split infinitive involves placing a word or group of words (usually an adverb) between to and the infinitive itself. Thus, "I would like to completely see the Picasso collection," might more correctly read, "I would like to see the complete Picasso collection." A split infinitive is not an indication of illiteracy, but it is usually unnecessary and ineffective.
