Stereotype

A stereotype is a preconceived notion about a culture, ethnicity, behavior, or way of doing things. Some stereotypes are based in fact, but are exaggerated to apply to all members of a particular culture, group, ethnicity, behavior, etc. Prejudice is a form of stereotyping, except that the thinker is aware of his or her prejudice. Stereotyping occurs without the subject's awareness.
