Super Mario 64

Super Mario 64 was one of the games launched with the Nintendo 64. The game was released in 1996 in Japan, and later in North America and other countries. It was a popular and well-reviewed game, selling over 11 million copies. As in all the other Mario games, the protagonist is Mario – an Italian plumber who has to overcome challenges in different worlds to rescue Princess Peach from the evil Bowser. This iteration of Mario was the first to feature 3 dimensional graphics, and showcased the N64's new 64-bit and 3 dimensional capabilities. The colorful worlds that Mario runs through are polygonal instead of the older console's sprite graphics. The game's 3 dimensional environments enabled Mario to explore in all directions, instead of being limited to 2D like the previous side-scrolling style.
