Taproot

A taproot is the largest root of a plant from which the smaller roots branch. Plants that have taproots are difficult to remove or transplant, such as the dandelion. The top of the plant can be cut off, but if the taproot remains intact, the plant can re-grow. Carrots are an easily recognizable taproot.
