WYSIWYG

WYSIWYG stands for "what you see is what you get." The acronym is commonly use to describe a web text area input that has formatting tools similar to what are found in a word processing application. These could include things like font, text size, text color, alignment, bulleted or numbered lists, and font styles such as bold, italics, underline, etc... More advanced WYSIWYG editors might include features like image or video embedding, emoticons, or hyperlinks. The tool formats the user's input into HTML which can then be displayed on a web page with full formatting.
