Odissi Dance

Odissi Dance is a style of classical Indian dance that originates in the Eastern Indian state of Orissa. The dance style has lyrical movements, subdued sensuality, and elegance. Odissi is rooted in the religion and customs of the eastern Indian state of Orissa. The style is linked to both the dances of the devadasi (women who were married to the God in temples there) and the dances of gotipuas (young boys who dress as women and dance outside of temples).
