Pear
The pear is a fruit from the a family of trees in the genus Pyrus. Edible pears come in white, green and red varieties though there are many inedible, hard, small and sour varieties. Pears are native to coastal and mildly temperate regions of the word including western Europe, north Africa and Asia. The pear was cultivated throughout Europe from ancient times. An equivalent to the word "pear" occurs in all Celtic languages, and in Slavonic as well. The pear is a tasty fruit enjoyed in desserts, with a little cheese or on its own.
