Noodling (Fishing)

There are two types of Noodling, Noodling Music and Noodling Fishing.

Noodling Fishing is an act of fishing barehanded. Primarily done in the South and usually for catfish. The fisherman will find a catfish hole and will place his hand inside hoping to attract the catfish. The plan is for the fish to swim toward the fishermans hand and latch on. The fisherman will try to grab the fish (usually by the gills if the fish is big enough). Noodling is illegal for the safety of the fisherman and the declining fish population. Noodlers have been known to be injured from bites from either snapping turtles, alligators, and other wildlife.
